Founded in Los Angeles, California, American Apparel is one of the largest manufacturers of clothing in the United States. American Apparel is best known for their progressive policies such as promoting immigration rights and labor policies.

As for their product, American Apparel is best known for making basic cotton wearables such as t-shirts and underwear. Most recently they have expanded to include tanks, dresses, pants, denim, accessories and vintage clothing for both men and women.

American Apparel is widely recognized for designing, creating and printing its own provocative and controversial advertising campaigns. American Apparel shirts are used as band merchandise and concert t-shirts for the bands Wilco, Death Cab for Cutie, Metric, and Flogging Molly.
